Home styling

This year more than ever we want to take back some control and set our beloved home styling to be beautiful, cosy and welcoming just for us or for the guests we can celebrate the festive season with.

Picking a theme and running with it throughout the home is so important to bring your overall vision to life, whether that be bright and bold, or soft and subtle, or anything in between.

For welcoming wreaths to adorn your door we would recommend opting for one around two thirds the size of your door, picking complimentary colours and style to paintwork and décor. This will dictate the overall styling at home linking your arrival at the door through to tree and garland themes. You can choose from natural and subtle, with dried elements, such as pine cones, oranges and limes and lightly tinted foliages and natural stems with fresh scented pine, or something more glitzy with luxury babuls added and swishy ribbons in velvet and satin.

Going into the home, we always choose statement piece for big impact. Staircase garlands always create a luxury feel for the home. As the staircase is such a high use area, often faux garlands can provide impact without creating additional jobs and mess as pine dries out, through December. They can also be used year on year and décor be added to suit the style you pick from if you change theme.

Fireplaces and mantels are also perfect for decorating and bringing a soft, natural style to the room. Here candles and lanterns can be added for additional winter atmosphere, and a cosy finish. Consider faux here as well, as fresh foliage will dry out if the fire is in use regularly.

And then for the main event, the trees, we always advised picking the place for your tree to be in an alcove or window for maximum impact. Bay windows are perfect for trees and going for a tall height – almost ceiling skimming, really makes sure the tree takes centre stage. Of course, lights are must, as many twinkly lights as possible, in warm white for a cosy toned finish, white led can be harsh on the eye. Decorations should be evenly placed with a mix of three sizes to bring interest and scale to the tree, remember a tree skirt or dressing for base of the tree can provide the finished luxury touch. And then for the presents and all the fun. We will be back with table styling and Christmas flower ideas for finishing off your home on the big day.
